Cyclist seriously injured in Tweedmouth crash

Police are appealing for information after a cyclist was injured in a collision in Berwick.

The collision happened on the roundabout on Northumberland Road, in Tweedmouth near to Farm Foods, around 4.15pm on Monday.

The cyclist, a 62-year-old local man, was taken to Newcastle RVI by air ambulance with serious head injuries. His injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

The patient was put into an induced coma before being given a blood transfusion en route to hospital.

The road was closed for around three and a half hours to allow collision investigation.

Officers are carrying out enquiries into the collision and are appealing for witnesses.
