Michael Weinig (UK) Ltd is the leading manufacturer for the solid wood processing industry and its revolutionary Cube has transformed the way many companies plane and straighten timber, proving an essential workhorse for both small workshops and large businesses.

The Cube enables Tweedside Timber’s staff to produce planed timber to specific customer sizes on demand and the company is the first in the area to offer such a service to the trade and public.

The investment at the firm, which is located on the Tweedside Trading Estate in Berwick, was made after extensive market research and shows commitment to the local economy.

Manager Richard Dobson said: “Our customers can walk in off the street and ask for any special size of planed timber which we can now produce locally.

“The Weinig Cube is a revolutionary machine which is amazingly safe and easy to use, meaning we don’t need a time-served machinist to operate it.”

Using lasers and the latest in CNC positioning technology, the Cube can change size in seconds and is operated by a simple touchscreen control panel, making it simple to use, and it produces perfect results every time.

Advice on the specification of the Cube was given to Richard by Malcolm Cuthbertson, a local resident and managing director of Weinig (UK).

He said: “I’m proud a local company has joined the ranks of Cube owners and look forward to using the service personally.”

Tweedside Timber can now supply bespoke size planed timber as well as an extensive range of timber mouldings and complementary products to trade and DIY.
