Crowning glory for Hollie at gala

There was fun by the seaside in spades at Spittal Gala on Sunday.

The event was blessed with fine weather, a pleasant change from recent years, which helped to attract spectators and participants.

Highlight of the day was the crowning of 15-year-old Hollie Millet as Spittal Gala Queen.

Senior attendants Daisy Taylor and Tiana Bettison, junior attendants Scarlett Arnold and Ellie Bolton and page boy Ollie Stawaz completed the lead line-up.

Berwick’s new civic party, led by Mayor Brian Douglas, also attended.

Hazel Bettison, who helped to organise the event, thanked everyone who helped and came along to support it.

Results: Egg spoon (age 3-4): boy, Sonny Biggins, girl, Lily McDonald; (6-9) boy, Euan Dixon-Scott, girl, Poppy McDonald. Straight race (3-4): boy, Jay Mabon, girl, Brook Menzies; (7-9) boy, Ethan Dixon Scott, girl, Romilly Oliver; (10+) boy, Corri Bettison, girl, Chloe Arnold. Three-legged race: Kyle and Kaylie McDonald. Men’s race: Steven Scott. Ladies race: Gemma Berry.
