Police issue fine for suspected breach of lockdown rules in Northumberland town

Overnight stays away from primary residences are not allowed in lockdown except in specific circumstances.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm we received a report of a possible breach of Coronavirus legislation regarding a family who had travelled to stay at an address in Rothbury.

"We would urge everyone to follow the legislation and guidance which is in place to help protect us all from Covid-19.”
The Government website states: ‘You cannot leave your home or the place where you are living for holidays or overnight stays unless you have a reasonable excuse for doing so. This means that holidays in the UK and abroad are not allowed. This includes staying in a second home or caravan, if that is not your primary residence.’
