Machetes found in crashed car after fight where man was chased down Northumberland street with sword

Northumbria Police discovered the blades after a report of a disturbance in the area of Ellington, shortly after 11pm on Sunday, August 23.
Men were said to be fighting with machetes, with a vehicle then seen “driving erratically from the scene.”

Hide AdThe weapons were seized by officers when they later stopped a vehicle following a crash in West Thirston, near Felton, with three men arrested as part of the probe.
A force spokesperson said: “It was reported that a man who was in possession of a machete had been seen chasing another male down the street, before both left the area in separate vehicles.
“An investigation was launched into the incident, and a short time later in the early hours of Monday morning, officers were alerted to a collision on Bridge End, West Thirston, believed to have involved one of the vehicles in question.
“Officers attended and three male occupants – aged 23, 23 and 18 - were taken to hospital as a precaution and later arrested on suspicion of affray.
"They have since been released under investigation.
