Councillor criticises plan for more signs at Pets at Home shop

Berwick town councillors have indicated their objection to further signage on the Pets at Home store in Tweedmouth.

The firm wants to put additional poster frame advertising on part of the building.

But Coun Robert Bruce, speaking at last week’s planning committee meeting, said: “I strongly object to more signs on that building. It’s an eyesore as it is.”

The plan has been slightly amended in recent weeks.

The i newsletter cut through the noise

In October, the town council for a condition that the signs only be illuminated during hours of business, so therefore would be turned off overnight.

This was to protect residential amenity and to prevent light pollution.
