Clerk Gareth Davies has informed councillors that signs of general wear and tear are now starting to appear, including the locks used to access the 10-year-old noticeboards.

The noticeboards are in Eastern Lane, outside Elizabethan Court in North Road, at the bottom of Kiln Hill, in Main Street Spittal (near Shiel & Morrison) and outside the Swan Centre.

A poster of meeting dates is displayed on these, as well as official notices about elections, details about who the town councillors are, and some limited event information.

Mr Davies said Berwick had more noticeboards than most parish councils.

However, Coun Karin Graham asked about the possibility of a noticeboard for Prior Park.

“Prior Park has been neglected a lot these past years,” said Coun Graham, member for Grove ward. “If ever an estate needed a noticeboard it’s us.”

Coun Anne Forbes also questioned whether a noticeboard was needed on Eastern Lane.

The issue will be discussed further by the local services committee.
