Council team up for law award

A team from Northumberland County Council's legal department has been shortlisted in the prestigious Northern Law Awards 2018 which celebrate the great wealth of legal expertise and excellence within the region.

The council’s regulation team has been confirmed as one of three finalists in the category Legal Department of the Year.

It is competing with property developers Bellway Homes and multinational manufacturer Proctor and Gamble for the accolade.

The regulation team is responsible for providing high quality advice to a number of council departments including planning and highways, housing, public protection, education welfare and Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service.

Coun Nick Oliver, cabinet member for corporate resources said: “Our legal team has extensive experience, an excellent track record of service to the council and a great attitude and passion for their work. This nomination is a tremendous achievement and very well deserved. ”

All shortlisted firms are invited to meet an independent panel of judges later this month to discuss their nominations. The winners will be announced on Thursday, June 7.
