Council support for Sallyport scheme
Plans to turn a boutique hotel in Berwick into residential use have been welcomed by town councillors.
A change-of-use application for 1-2 Sallyport has been lodged with Northumberland County Council.
The proposal involves no building work at this time, with the intention to retain the two original properties as one.
Coun Alan Bowlas, member for Elizabeth ward, said:“I welcome any opportunity to use the upper floors of town centre properties such as those on Marygate or, in this case, Bridge Street, so I support this application.”
Berwick Town Council’s planning committee offered no objections.
