Co-housing proposal submitted in Wooler
A small housing development is being planned in Wooler for women aged over 45.
Plans have been lodgedfor a single storey development in a quiet corner of the town which would provide independent new homes for four people with shared space to meet and share meals and ideas with fellow residents.
“The concept of co-housing is not new, there are well established co-housing in Denmark and across Europe where people have lived for many years in an environment that encourages neighbourliness,” said Tom Johnston from the Glendale Gateway Trust, who is assisting with the project.
“There are some good examples of co-housing in the UK the nearest being Leeds and Lancaster, this could be the first one in Northumberland.”
An informaton event is being held at the Cheviot Centre on June 12, from 6pm-9pm.
