Cinderella '“ but it's not as you know it
After its outstanding performance of Bugsy Malone last year, The Maltings Junior Youth Theatre returns for its annual summer performance.
This year, the multi-talented cast of 50-plus children from across the borders, Eyemouth to Wooler, and everywhere in between, present Interstella Cinderella.
Youngsters Corey Learmonth, Sam Rogers and Morgan Flannigan, who were last seen on stage in Berwick Operatic Society’s sell-out production of Oliver!, take lead rolls once again.
Set in a galaxy far, far away, the starship Phoenix is looking for new planets when the crew stumble across the planet rock and roll. Cindy, the captain’s daughter, transports down to the planet and becomes stranded.
With an evil queen and silly stepbrothers, musical numbers full of rock and roll classics, and even an appearance from the King himself, this madness-filled show promises to be a must for a fantastic family night out.
The Maltings is incredibly proud of its award-winning youth drama programme, which has been running since 1993.
Led by Wendy Payn, who was appointed regional youth champion of the arts by the English National Youth Arts Network, the productions these talented, young local thespians produce never fail to entertain.
Interstella Cinderella plays from today (Thursday) to Saturday, at 7pm. Tickets are £10, concs £8, family £30, online at www.maltingsberwick.co.uk or through the Box Office on 01289 330999.
