Cheeky elves take over Greenses shed
As the children look forward to Santa making his annual appearance on the rooftops at the Greenses in Berwick, the Christmas lights are already sparkling in Low Greenses.
There is a touch of humour in the Haven Garden where the shed which, in previous years, has housed a nativity scene has been taken over by a crowd of cheeky elves.
Santa is expected to make his landing on The Pilot Inn at 6pm on Christmas Eve. His appearance is always eagerly anticipated and draws good crowds.
The event is organised by the Greenses Residents Committee which raises funds throughout the year, mainly through operating the popular car boot sale each Sunday at the Castlegate car park.
In August, the committee gave £500 each to four local charities: The Berwickshire Group for Riding for the Disabled, to help with the purchase of a hoist for a mechanical horse; Berwick Stroke Club; Berwick and District Friends of Dementia; and 2nd Spittal Cubs. Funds would be put towards running costs and excursions .
