Charity in appeal for additional volunteers
A charity supporting armed forces veterans is appealing for more volunteers.
Research by SSAFA, the armed forces charity, has found that 41 per cent of veterans surveyed, aged 25 to 45, have felt lonely, isolated or suicidal since leaving the forces, with 22 per cent saying they would feel less lonely if they had a stronger support group.
The charity is appealing to residents to join its network of volunteers who provide support to veterans and their families who are in need, including access to financial assistance, advice and support on personal affairs, and access to special equipment.
Christine Cribb, head of volunteering at SSAFA, said: “Veterans have sacrificed a great deal for us so now it’s our turn to support them. Please get in touch with one of our team to find out more.”
