Changes to Flodden Day are mooted
Flodden Day 2017 could finish with a torchlight procession and fireworks instead of the traditional ball.
The Presenting Coldstream committee has been looking at the format and there is general agreement that changes need to be made to Flodden Day, moving the ball, possibly to the Friday night.
A proposal will go before the Presenting Coldstream AGM on Wednesday, November 30, at 7.30pm in the Royal British Legion hall.
Anyone wanting to take part in the discussion is welcome.
“Civic week needs to evolve,” said secretary Fiona Shepherd.
“The Coldstream Riders Association and Ex Coldstreamers Club have both indicated that they agree with the proposed changes.”
The impromptu ‘Stump’ ceremony at the end of the Flodden ride – presentations made to principals who have fallen off their horses – may be added to the programme to ensure it happens in Henderson Park and doesn’t spill onto the main road.
