Cellist to perform for a second day at festival
A cellist whose first performance at a summer festival has already sold out has agreed to perform for a second days.
Pieter Wispelwey, who debuts at Music at Paxton this year, has agreed to repeat his sold out Bach programme ‘Bach in the House’ on Saturday, July 16, at 4.30pm on Sunday, July 17, at 4pm.
Bach in the House sees the Paxton House drawing room transformed into an intimate chamber concert for just 40 people.

The concert features Bach solo cello suites 1, 2 and 3: suite 1 is probably the best known movement from the entire set of suites and is regularly heard on television and in films; suite 2 consists of two parts, the first has a strong recurring theme that is immediately introduced in the beginning, the second part is a scale-based cadenza movement that leads to the final, powerful chords; and suite 6 is written in a much more free form than the others, containing more cadenza-like movements and virtuosic passages.
