Hutton village hall was opened ten years ago

After eight years of fundraising the new village hall completed and was opened in September 2006 by Major Alexander Trotter.

Since then it has become a hive of activity in the village, hosting various functions and clubs, including coffee mornings, whist, bowling, lunches, Guild, Busy Bees and the very popular monthly dances.

Everyone in the village was invited to join in an afternoon tea in the village hall. The sun shone and everyone who attended enjoyed the day, enjoying the sunshine, delicious food and the company of good friends and neighbours.

Jim Stobo, trustee, thanked everyone for coming and gave tribute to the community and the committee in maintaining the village hall as a well-used and vital community facility.

He also announced that to mark the event, the Hutton Village Hall committee was donating a defibrillator to be located in the village. This is in partnership with Hutton and Paxton Community Council which has agreed to fund the cost of the cabinet, the installation and ongoing maintenance.

The Community Council is to organise a training session as soon as the defibrillator is delivered.
