Ripples from the House on the Shore, on at the Dewar’s Lane Granary Gallery in Berwick, features more than 30 watercolours and preparatory sketches by the artist.

Northamptonshire-born Ennion was a bird illustrator who spent the 1950s living and working on the Northumberland coast.

His drawings and watercolours of native British birds appeared in print throughout his adult life, but he is little known by the general public today.

Ennion founded the Monks’ House Observatory near Seahouses, and it attracted a regular band of keen ringers and birdwatchers between 1950 and 1960. He died in 1981 at the age of 80.

The exhibition runs until Sunday, April 17.
