This year is an important one for anniversaries with 100 years since the end of the First World War and the Representation of the People Act that gave some women the right to vote in the UK.
It is also 70 years since the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which lists all the rights that we now enjoy and take for granted in Britain. To celebrate this anniversary, the local branch of Amnesty International is holding an informal event at the Berwick Guildhall on Saturday, November 17, from 10am to 2pm.
There will be displays and information from a number of organisations working in the field of human rights. Coffee and refreshments will be available provided by Northern Soul Kitchen, the local food waste initiative.
We hope the people of Berwick will visit the event and help us celebrate this anniversary.
