Camping day is great fun despite the rain

Camping day at Holy Trinity First School in Berwick was great fun for the pupils '“ until the rain arrived and the tents on the playing field had to be abandoned.

It is always one of the most eagerly awaited events on the school calendar with pupils getting the chance to bring water pistols and ride their scooters.

The day began promisingly with bright sunshine as parents found a spot to pitch their child’s tent.

The children then enjoyed a few games before the weather deteriorated and they were forced indoors.

However, they at least had the consolation of a fish and chips treat!

Unfortunately for parents and helpers, they were left with the task of dismantling the tents in the rain and getting them dry again.

The vagaries of Britain’s climate has been a recurring theme for the school’s busy summer term. Sports Day had to be postponed and hastily rearranged, while bad weather was a feature of events held in the marquee last month.
