Coun Karin Graham’s appeal was mentioned by town clerk Gareth Davies at last week’s budget and administration committee meeting.

She is particularly concerned at damage caused by vandals to play equipment at Grove Gardens South in Tweedmouth. It received a £30,000 refurbishment in 2017, including funding from Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme.

She hopes funding from reserves can be earmarked for the CCTV investment.

Further discussions between councillors and officers are taking place this week ahead of the council’s full meeting on Monday night when the budget is due to be agreed.
