Arch will deliver a £1.3 million programme, which includes match funding of £698,599 received from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.

This funding will form the Business Northumberland programme which will focus on meeting the specialised needs of Northumberland businesses and build on the previous European funded projects, including Business Northumberland 2012-15 and iNorthumberland.

The new Business Northumberland support programme will be delivered using a variety of methods to ensure easy access for businesses across the county.

A programme of workshops and events will be held across Northumberland throughout the duration of the programme and all participating businesses will have access to the Business Northumberland website which will host a variety of evolving content and advice directly related to growing and sustaining a business.

Businesses will also have access to 1-2- 1 advice and support delivered by Business Growth Advisers based at Arch. The advisers will work directly with businesses to help them understand their growth needs and implement an action plan.

Dave Ledger, chairman of Arch said: “The funding made available from both Europe and Arch will be a great boost to Northumberland’s economy and help to provide support to local businesses and new start-ups. It offers valuable support and advice to assist businesses to expand operations and is available to help at all stages of company development, from starting up in Northumberland through to growth of already established local businesses.”

Cllr Allan Hepple, cabinet member for economic growth at Northumberland County Council added: “This programme is great news for business growth in Northumberland, for skills development and for jobs. It demonstrates the huge value of European Funding to our county. As a council we will continue to work with partners like Arch to ensure that we maximise the opportunities created.”

The main objective of the Business Northumberland programme is to help businesses, across Northumberland grow and prosper. Whether a business is new, facing challenges, looking to grow or even looking to locate into Northumberland, the Business Northumberland programme will offer valuable advice and support.

Businesses will access the programme either via the Business Northumberland website or through one of the Business Growth Advisers based at Arch. Understanding that every business is different, the website will feature a diagnostic tool, bespoke to the programme, which will guide a business through a series of questions to determine their growth aspirations.

Based on their answers, the businesses will be guided to the most suitable content, workshops and advice to help them achieve their business goals.

The Business Northumberland programme will launch in January 2017. For more information please contact Lucy Cansfield, ERDF Programme Manager, 01670 528453.
