Hainsworths clothing have teamed up with Iceland Berwick to support the Berwick food bank over the festive period.

They have donated food, drinks, toiletries and other essentials to help cater for the anticipated high demand over the winter months.

David Hainsworth, owner of Hainsworth’s, said: “I’ve got some friends in Manchester who did something similar last year and I wanted to see if I could do something in Berwick.

“I approached the manager at Iceland and they kindly agreed to match my £50 donation and we took the items up to the food bank.

“They get a lot of food donations at this time of year but were keen to get toiletries and other household essentials which we were delighted to hand over.”

David is hoping to build on the project for next year and has been approached by Walkergate cafe Thistle Do Nicely. Any other businesses who want to get involved should pop into Hainsworth’s.
