Buildings are shocking
Dan Cruickshank gave an interesting talk at The Maltings, Berwick, last Saturday night.
He gave us a clue as to what he thought about how to preserve Berwick’s architectural prowess.
He mentioned the Governors Gardens in passing, and when he invited questions from the floor I resisted the temptation to ask him what he thought of our county council and its attitude towards our town.
I refer, in particular, to the shocking state of the library building and the manner in which buildings fall apart and into decay while they sit on the council’s ‘for sale’ books for years.
Remember St Aidens School? The Community Centre? Palace Green East? The council offices in Wallace Green?
A little weeding of our streets and general TLC would help.
