Bridge Street in Berwick.

Northumberland County Council is examining how the street could be improved for pedestrians to create a more welcoming shopping experience.

It is holding a drop-in market stall on Marygate next Wednesday to get feedback from local residents, shoppers and businesses.

Designers from the highways team will be visiting the market to understand how people use and access the street.

They want to speak to the people that use Bridge Street to understand their views or issues before they draw up plans.

A council spokesperson said: “We would like to speak to as many people as possible to capture the views on this unique shopping street in Berwick.

“Officers from the council will be available to talk on Wednesday, with an exhibition and ‘street kit’ for people to explore the layout of Bridge Street. A questionnaire will also be used to capture more information.”
