Berwick took a losing bonus point from their trip to the south coast on Friday when they went down to a narrow defeat at Plymouth.

It was a much improved performance from the Bandits following their defeat at Redcar the previous evening with Thomas Jorgensen leading the way as he raced to three heat victories.

Matty Wethers chalked up two wins, with Theo Pijper and Liam Carr each taking the chequered flag once.

Meanwhile, the Devils were best served by Todd Kurtz, Kyle Newman, Jack Holder snd reserve Sam Simota.

The home side made the better start, but two wins from Jorgensen and a 2-4 from Wethers and Pijper meant the Bandits were still in contention at 23-19 after heat seven.

There then followed a series of shared heats, with the teams swapping 5-1s in heats nine and 12, which meant the four point deficit remained at the end.

Manager Scott Courtney said afterwards: “It was a long way to go but at least we came back with a point.”

Plymouth: Simota 12+1, Newman 12, Kurtz 11+2, Holder 7+1, Boxall 4+2, Perks 1, Nielsen rider rep.

Berwick: Jorgensen 12, Wethers 8+2, Pijper 8, Carr 6, Doolan 5+2, Gappmaier 4+1, Stachyra 0.
