Seahouses Lifeboat Station was alerted at 10.09am today, Saturday, May 8, when its inshore lifeboat was asked to launch.

However, a short time later, the volunteer crew received an update saying another boat had helped the person, who had been on the coast south of Lindisfarne.

A spokesperson for the team said: “"At 10.09am, UK Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat to assist a person reported cut off at Blacklaw, south of Holy Island.

"This is a nature reserve beside Ross Links, north of Budle Bay.

“The Inshore Lifeboat launched and made best speed towards the incident, but just before arriving on scene, a further report was received from the Coastguard, that an unknown boat had recovered the person.

"The Inshore Lifeboat was stood down and returned to station."
