Berwick youth group keeping busy
The Berwick and District Youth Activity Group has now been established for over a year and continues to go from strength-to-strength.
It became a Duke of Edinburgh Centre last March and five group members have successfully completed their gold expedition to go towards their gold award.
Six other members have starting their bronze award with the goal to do their expedition this year.
As part of their awards they have to be involved in a community project.
As a result, the group now have an on-going community project at East Ord Well in the village which was badly over-grown.
This has now been cleared and has a new accessible path which has been welcomed by the local community.
The group has also supported East Ord Village Hall during its annual summer car boot, the Ord Parish Remembrance Service and helped at the Tweedmouth Old Folks Annual Christmas Supper at the Guild Hall.

It has also held various fundraising events which helps towards the day-to-day running of the group, as well as going towards any activities being held.
The group recently raised more than £800 from a Christmas prize draw, thanks to excellent support from a number of local businesses.
It has also requested funding from Berwick Town Council to provide the activity service.
Councillors broadly welcomed the scheme and agreed that the group was providing a much-needed service for young people in the area.
The group meets every Thursday term-time at East Ord Village Hall at 7.30pm and would welcome new members.
