Berwick quartet crucial to Newcastle cup win

Dylan Johnston, Tommy Malcolm, Rhys Dixon and Danny Fletcher were part of the U14 Newcastle East End Juniors Whites team that won the Goals Newcastle NFA Colts Cup.

Their opponents in the final at Whitely Park, Benton on Tuesday were the heavily-fancied Walker Central Junior Whites, who had a 100% win rate this season going into the clash.

After 90 minutes in front of a crowd of over 500, the scores were locked at 2-2, and in the ensuing penalty shoot-out, East End held their nerve to triumph 3-0.

This was the side’s second cup victory this season, coming after their win in the League Cup, and they are set to finish their season in the Pinpoint League with a third-place finish.
