The knitting group based at Berwick Library took on a truly unique challenge for Christmas this year by knitting Paul Charlwood a Christmas jumper and scarf.

Paul Charlwood, who often has to unlock the door to allow the group in, suggested that something knitted would be a suitable reward.

Being a somewhat whimsically-natured group, the challenge was accepted.

As everyone wished to be involved in the mischief, it was agreed that they would all do a bit.

Because of this, and everyone having different coloured wool, the finished article is multi-coloured and somewhat random in appearance, but Paul seemed quite pleased with it.

To complete the ensemble, he was also presented with a matching scarf.

Paul is pictured along with some of the knitting elves at the presentation.

Thanks to Paul for his sense of humour and to all the others who encouraged the group to continue with the secret project.
