Berwick Investors Conference is full
The Berwick Investors Conference, taking place in the town hall today, has closed its doors and is sold out.
With 140 delegates coming from Scotland, Northumberland, Tyneside and even Bristol & The Midlands organisers have no doubt the the event has put Berwick, and its business offerings on the map.
Presentations will cover funding for business from the UK, Regional Development Agencies and the EU.
There is a particular focus on attracting new businesses to the Berwick Ramparts Business Park, where its Enterprise Zone status offers tax advantages to new companies setting up there.
Organisers are particularly pleased with the strong Scottish contingent, and the key note speaker will be Scottish Borders Council Executive Member for Economic Development, Councillor Stuart Bell. It is hoped that there will more cross-border collaboration to promote the Borders economy going forward.
Berwick Town Councillor Eric Goodyer, who is chairing the event said: “This support is way beyond our wildest hopes. The incredible effort that has gone into this, matched with partnership working with UK Trade & Investment, The Enterprise Europe Network, Innovate UK and Northumberland County Council has been outstanding.
“The turnout demonstrates that we are a town that is going to grow, and we want our Scottish and English neighbours to be part of that economic success story.”
