Berwick Infirmary plans to be unveiled
Updated plans for a new £25million hospital in Berwick are going on show at two drop-in sessions.
The more detailed plans giving people a clearer picture of how the scheme will look when built will be on show at the William Elder Building, 56-58 Castlegate, on Friday between 3pm and 7pm and Saturday from 9.30am to 1pm.
The redevelopment of Berwick Infirmary will provide purpose-built, modern facilities to deliver hospital services to the local population and improve the integration of health and social care provision in the area. As part of the plans, Well Close GP practice will be based on site.
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has appointed the Newcastle office of national planning, design and economics consultancy Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners (NLP) to progress its planning application.

At the events, the public will have the opportunity to speak to representatives from the trust, NLP and the design team and have their say before a planning application is submitted to Northumberland County Council later this year.
Subject to planning permission, building of the new hospital on the site of the existing infirmary is scheduled to start in summer 2017 and would take around three years.
