Bell View could offer services at Crookham hall
The possibility of using Crookham Village Hall for wider community activities arranged and resourced by Belford-based charity Bell View has been discussed.
Members of the hall’s management committee recently met Bell View officials and discussed co-operating in a range of areas, including an extension of the hall’s popular weekend soup and roll lunches to a year-round weekday equivalent, possibly on Wednesdays.
Another area that interests both parties is the creation of a ‘savvy surfers’ club, offering tuition for older computer users wishing to improve their digital skills.
Bell View is now seeking grants to fund the projects, which would also offer transport to and from the hall, while the village hall is seeking funds from possible donors to help pay for improvements to disabled access, toilet facilities and a modern kitchen.

“There is also the possibility that we could expand to include a session supporting older people with higher needs if the hall facilities were to be upgraded,” said Jane Field, Bell View’s services development manager.
The hall has already submitted an application to the Big Lottery Fund for funds to modernise facilities.
