New notice boards have been purchased by Berwick Town Council to help promote the activities of local beach clean groups.

The two boards have been installed at Pier Road car park and Spittal Point car park and will highlight why it is so important to dispose of litter and dog waste in a bin.

Pictured at Spittal Point car park are representatives of Spittal Litter Pickers, Spittal Improvement Trust Gardening Group and Berwick Town Council.

Litter is a huge safety problem to wildlife, pets and visitors (especially children) at the beach, dunes, park, play areas and the street. Depending on the time of year following floods down the Tweed, or summer visitors, the place can be strewn with cans, bottles, beach toys, clothes, netting, plastic of all kinds, shredded dogs toys and hundreds of golf balls.
