Author to visit Wooler library

Visitors to Wooler Library are invited to take a step back into the Dark Ages when historian and archaeologist Max Adams comes to talk about this mysterious period of history on Friday from 6pm-7pm.

Author of ‘In the Land of Giants’, Max travels the country exploring monuments and landmarks left by the Romans and ancient Britons which seemed magical even to the Saxons who succeeded them.

Max brings a lively interpretation of prehistoric monuments including walls, standing stones, and forts, and offers an insight into the mindset of the Dark Ages and turbulent centuries seen through the eyes of Arthur, Alfred and Bede.

He also gives a lively and passionate talk on some of the most important chapters in Northumberland’s history, as revealed through the excavations at Yeavering and more recently at Bamburgh, as well as the life and times of Saint Cuthbert and Lindisfarne.
