Audela praised by the Good Food Guide
For the third consecutive year, Audela is the only Berwick restaurant to be listed in the prestigious, national Good Food Guide, this time with an upgraded listing from local gem to a ranked restaurant.
Glowing praise abounds. The review describes the food as unctuous and palate-tempting, with delicate seafood delivered with an assured touch in the kitchen and served in elegant surroundings.
“So many awards in this business are sought out or by invitation but this is unsolicited and awarded by an anonymous inspector’s visit, supported by subscribers who have eaten here, so it means so much more,” said chef Craig Pearson.
It’s a year since Craig and his partner Sarah moved Audela to a newly-refurbished location in the Old Cowes Building in Bridge Street, and changed the style of cuisine from a bistro to a more formal dining experience.
To celebrate their first year, on October 18, they are revisiting the degustation menu with which they launched the new venture, and plan to continue this style of menu regularly.
Sarah explained: “Craig loves to serve game and it is plentiful in the autumn and winter.
“With this in mind, we aim to offer a degustation menu, once a month (except December), giving folk the opportunity to try something different from the norm.”
This summer it was rumoured that a Michelin Restaurant Guide inspector was in town. Craig and Sarah, and all the other restaurants, can only wait and hope.
