ARMISTICE 100: Legion pipers to play at war memorials

Berwick and Eyemouth Royal British Legion Pipe Band is taking part in Battle's Over '“ commemorating 100 years since the end of the First World War.

It begins at 6am on Sunday, with more than 1,000 lone pipers across the country playing Battle’s O’er, a traditional Scottish air played after a battle.

A lone piper from Berwick and Eyemouth RBL Pipe Band will play at various war memorials throughout the area, including Tweedmouth, Castlegate, Spittal, Scremerston, East Ord, Norham and Coldingham.

The i newsletter cut through the noise

At 6.55pm, buglers will sound the Last Post, then at 7pm beacons will be lit in a tribute called Beacons of Light, signifying the light of peace that emerged from the darkness of four years of war. At 7.05pm, hundreds of churches will ring their bells.
