Appeal for witnesses after assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault in Alnwick.

Just after 1am on Sunday, police received a report of an assault at The Mail House pub on Fenkle Street that had spilled out onto the street.

A large group of people were involved and several people were assaulted. Two men received serious injuries during the incident and had to receive hospital treatment. They have since been discharged.

Officers have been carrying out inquiries and reviewing CCTV footage of the incident.

A 23-year-old man has also been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail.
