The Wilson's Tales Project was one of the beneficiaries.

In 2015/16, the Northern Angel Fund for Berwick, made 16 grants to these groups, worth £28,287 in total.

It is a Community Foundation fund that exists specifically to support charitable activity in the town, with a focus on work that improves the skills of local people, enhances community cohesion and contributes to the unique and diverse culture of the town.

In its impactreport, Jon Goodwin, senior philanthropy advisor, explained that in the past year, they worked with a number of people to help spread the word about the fund as an opportunity to ‘think local and give local’.

He added: ‘While Berwick commemorated its 900th birthday, it was also a year of celebration for the fund itself, with 2015/16 being the fund’s 10th birthday and the point at which we hit the double milestone of £500,000 in gifts to the fund and £200,000 in grants from the fund.
