At Amble WI’s June meeting, a social evening was held to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.

The theme of the night was red, white and blue, and the ladies dressed for the occasion, enjoying the special supper, as well as a fun quiz and an extra raffle.

Two prizes that deserve a special mention are the flowers and cake that were made by two members of the group.

The evening also saw the return of the finished pieces of pottery, which the ladies had decorated at the May meeting with the help and instruction of Lorna, from Rainbow Pottery in Warkworth.

Even though Amble WI has only been in existence since January, the ladies are working (and playing) hard, and really taking their chances to shine.

This meeting, as well as being a chance to celebrate the Queen’s birthday, was also an opportunity to celebrate the efforts made by the ladies that led to their very successful craft and bake stall at the Puffin Festival.

The next meeting, where the ladies will be learning about silk painting, will be held on Monday, July 11, from 7pm, at the Masonic Hall.

All ladies, of any age, are welcome to attend
