All set for traditions

As chief marshal 2016, I would like to thank everyone who came to the Sashing on Saturday, March 19.

Friday, 1st April 2016, 8:00 am

It was a fantastic night, enjoyed by all.

I am so grateful to have such a supportive and dedicated committee around me.

Everyone has played their role in not only organising the sashing but promoting the Riding of the Bounds, and we all look forward to continuing onwards and upwards to make bounds day a special and enjoyable event.

I would like to especially thank Shaun Eltringham for being a great host on the evening of sashing and making sure everything ran smoothly, Jude Eltringham, as acting chairman, for all her hard work, and Katrina Lewis, as secretary.

I would also like to thank Ivor Dixon, who was standing in for the mayor, Jim Evans for freeman, long-standing sponsors and friends.

Also thanks to Flora Simpson, on behalf of Simpsons Malt, visiting principles, Michael, for hosting the Guild Hall, David Scott for the buffet, Kevin for the bar, Dan Clark for the disco, and, of course, my mum and dad.

It is a great honour for me to be given the role of chief marshal.

I look forward to not only bounds day, but a summer filled with ride-outs and different traditions.

I thoroughly enjoyed sashing and I’m thrilled to be representing Berwick in the best way I can.

As a committee we always welcome new faces and new ideas.
