The site of a proposed £1million cafe and restaurant development opposite the beach car park is being used to help meet demand ahead of its expected construction later this year.

Cllr Guy Renner-Thompson, providing an update for members of Beadnell Parish Council, said: “I’ve had a few meetings with Stephen Dixon, the developer. The car park hasn’t been used a great deal so far but I’m sure it will as the summer progresses.”

Cllr Alison Nation added: “I am sure it will get used and it is a very useful addition to have that capacity for 55 extra vehicles. It’s a saving grace for other parts of the village.”

"The county council has predicted it may be even busier this year and it is pleasing to see the county council has taken steps to manage visitors and support coastal communities in the short and long-term.

"Proposals for coping with overnight motor caravans and extended use of bus services to reduce of private vehicles will be discussed with the parish council in the coming months.”

"There are two sizeable developments under way in the village.

"A two-storey cafe/restaurant by the car park has been approved and work may commence later in the year. Once operating the car park and toilet facilities will be available to the public during business hours.

"There has been a lull in the Northumberland Estates’ Kilns development for 45 principle residency dwellings recently. It is hoped there will be no significant delay to the two year construction schedule and completion will be by the end of 2022/early 2023.”

She also revealed that over £2,000 has been received in donations from owners of holiday-let accommodation who do not contribute to the parish precept.
