A keen sea breezed kept temperatures down while there was also the occasional threat of fog close to the shore in some places.

However, many visitors enjoyed lapping up the sunshine with a trip to the beach, a spot of fish and chips or a refreshing ice cream or pint – especially in hotspots such as Bamburgh, Seahouses and Beadnell.
