This Sunday (May 30), Moore House, Whalton, Morpeth, which is new to the scheme, is opening at 2pm. Next Sunday, it’s Lilburn Tower, near Wooler.

6. Gertrude Jekyll Garden, Holy Island
Garden designer, writer and artist Gertrude Jekyll created this small walled garden in 1911 alongside friend Edwin Lutyens, who'd transformed Lindisfarne Castle into a holiday home. 8. Minotaur Maze, Kielder Castle
