Ofsted rating is good news for school
The school in Oldgate was first school in Northumberland to be visited under the new framework.
The report highlighted the pupils’ positive attitude towards their learning and the pride that they have in their work, and how leaders and governors consider staff well-being as part of the support given to staff.

Hide AdIt also included the following: ‘Pupils behave well. They say that there is no bullying in the school and behaviour records show that bullying is rare.
‘The oldest pupils like the extra responsibilities that they get.
‘The lunchtime buddies do a great job in making sure that the youngest pupils settle into school well.
‘More pupils reach the required standard at the phonics screening check than pupils do nationally.

Hide Ad‘This is a happy school. Pupils are polite and courteous to each other and to adults.’
Headteacher David Sutcliffe said: “This is a great school and I am very proud of the report.
“Our young people deserve the very best.”
Fiona Swift, chair of governors, added: “I am delighted that the hard work and dedication of all our staff under the leadership of Mr Sutcliffe has been recognised in this very well-deserved Ofsted report.”
