Happy Shoes Day at Berwick Middle School
Berwick Middle School pupils swapped their usual school shoes for their own choice of footwear last Tuesday in support of Happy Shoes Day.
An array of colourful trainers, pumps and boots were on show as students showed their style.
Run by the charity Living Streets, Happy Shoes Day is an annual event which promotes walking to school rather than travelling by car.
Optional donations were taken, coordinated by the school council members, who play a key role in the many charitable events that take place at the school. Over £150 was raised.

Assistant head teacher Kate Sarginson said: “By overruling our uniform policy for a day, pupils were encouraged to consider the health benefits of walking to school, as well as the positive environmental impact of reduced CO2 emissions resulting from fewer cars being on the road.
“The funds raised today will help Living Street’s work in making areas around schools safer for children.”
