Work begin on £1 million project to upgrade sewer in Berwick

Northumbrian Water is carrying out the work in the Castle Hills Farm area in order to future-proof the sewer networks for local residents.

Work started last week and as part of the investment scheme, which is expected to take seven months to complete, a brand-new pumping station will be constructe at the junction of the access road to Castle Hills House.

A new pipe will also be installed, which will go from the grazing field near the cottages and connect into the existing public sewer on Castle Terrace.

A temporary construction compound will be established in the field between Lillybrooke and Castle Terrace.

The work will be carried out by Northumbrian Water’s construction partners at Esh-Stantec.

Ian Davison, project manager, said: “This is a very important project and will make sure that the sewers in the area are future-proofed for our customers.”
