Seahouses fish and chip shop gets a revamp
A Seahouses fish and chip shop has been given a new look and a new name.
Hook, on a prime site in the centre of the village, replaces what was Pinnacles.
Applicant Michael Taylor had referred to the ‘tired’ appearance of the property in his planning application and pledged to ‘tone down’ the previous painted brickwork.
Planning permission for the revamp, including new signage and replacement windows and doors, was approved by Northumberland County Council.
Planning technician Esther Ross, granting approval using delegated powers, reported: ‘It is considered that the design and materials of the proposed windows and doors would not give rise to a negative impact to the levels of amenity afforded to neighbouring properties or residents.
‘The development is also considered to preserve the special character of the conservation area. This proposal would not cause harm to the built environment.’
The plans had been welcomed by North Sunderland Parish Council and the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
