Residents invited to comment on updated Lees Hill Renewable Energy Park plans

Leading independent renewable energy producer, Fred. Olsen Renewables has announced that it will be holding public exhibitions to display updated plans for Lees Hill Renewable Energy Park in the Scottish Borders – which is set to deliver 156MW of power and provide over £7m in a locally managed community benefit fund

Located 5km West of Duns, Lees Hill Renewable Energy Park has been subject to public consultation since October 2022. Having considered the feedback received, the plans have been updated and now consist of six turbines up to 200m to tip – a reduction of one turbine – and 60MW of solar panels and 60MW of battery storage.

Residents are encouraged to attend one of the many events that are being held in September, where they will have the opportunity to speak with members of the Fred. Olsen Renewables project team, examine visual representations of the updated project and provide their comment on the plans.

Emily Galloway, Senior Project Manager at Fred. Olsen Renewables, commented: “We look forward to welcoming local residents to our second round of exhibitions. These events will provide the opportunity to learn more about the proposals, understand how they have changed in response to feedback and speak to members of the team.

The exhibitions will display how the proposals have changed including:

- Fewer turbines (a reduction from 7 to 6)

- A reduce solar search area, in the centre of the site (up to 60MW)

- A redesigned network of access tracks

The public exhibitions will be held across three days in five locations:

Monday 4 September

10am - 2pm, Volunteer Hall, Langtongate, Duns

3pm - 7pm, Westruther Village Hall, 6 Edgar Road, Westruther

Tuesday 5 September

10am - 7pm, Gavinton Village Hall, South Street, Gavinton

Wednesday 6 September

10am - 2pm, Fairbairn Hall, West High Street, Greenlaw

3pm - 7pm, Longformacus Village Hall, Duns Road, Longformacus

Emily Galloway added: “All of the feedback that we receive will be considered prior to submitting an application to the Scottish Government later this year.”
