Long queues as McDonald's reopens drive-thru restaurants in Northumberland

The fast food giant reopened drive-thru facilities at its Alnwick, Berwick and Ashington branches at 11am on June 3, and it wasn’t long before word got around.
They were among 24 sites across the North East reopening, following five other outlets across the region on Tuesday.

Hide AdMcDonald’s has introduced a number of changes including social distancing in its kitchens and service areas, perspex screens at drive-thru windows and employees wearing protective equipment, as well as perspex screens and floor markings in specific areas in the restaurant and kitchen.
All employees are being asked to confirm they are fit and able to work and contactless thermometers will be used on their arrival at work for every shift.
Deliveries will be contactless for both staff and customers and restaurants are returning with smaller teams, offering a limited menu and operating reduced hours.
