The next round of the Co-op’s Local Community Fund, which has raised over £271,500 for good causes in the Berwick area since 2016, has opened for applications.

It is particularly keen on applications from projects that support access to food, help improve mental wellbeing or provide opportunities for young people.

Rebecca Birkbeck, director of community and shared value at the Co-op, said: “Our Co-op vision is ‘co-operating for a fairer world’ and it’s heartening to see this come to life in these grassroots projects.

"Our Local Community Fund and support from our members has been a lifeline throughout the pandemic, and we want even more local groups to take advantage of this opportunity.”

This year, when a group applies, they will also be connected to Co-operate (coop.co.uk/co-operate), its online community centre, where they can benefit from help and support.

Applications close on May 30 and groups can find out more at coop.co.uk/causes.
